Scope and topics:

This mini-symposium will discuss the research and applications of low-dimensional materials (for example, 2D materials including graphene and 1D materials such as nanotubes and nanowires). Interesting physical and chemical phenomena that occurred on the surfaces and/or in confined spaces constructed by novel 1D and 2D materials will be presented.

 For example, the speakers will talk about their recent experimental and theoretical findings on the newly emerged and unexpected fluidic, electric, catalytic and optical phenomena occurred on 2D surfaces and in nanoscale or angstrom scale confined spaces constructed by using 2D crystals or their heterostructures as building blocks. Applications of these novel low-dimensional materials on the basis of their intriguing properties will also be discussed. The talks in this mini-symposium serve to inspire the research of others focusing on different subjects and also encourage those who are willing to take a big adventure in this small nanoworld.
